As reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office, they were charged with crimes committed as part of an organized group, under Part 3 of Art. 28, Part 1 of Art. 438, Part 3 of Art. 27, Part 3 of Art. 436-2 (Violation of the laws and customs of war; justification, recognition as legitimate, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
“It was established that the head of the regional headquarters of the so-called “Unarmy of the DPR” together with six heads of local units recruited more than 6,000 Ukrainian children in the Donetsk region during 2019-2025. The children were promised benefits and career opportunities in the armed forces of the Russian Federation,” the report says.
The Prosecutor General’s Office adds that the suspects promoted the entry of minors into the ranks of the Russian army, organized military training – training in the use of weapons, training exercises, participation in “military” events, they also produced and distributed materials that denied the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and justified it.
The OGP recorded several cases when, upon reaching the age of majority, students of the so-called “Unarmy” joined the army of the Russian Federation and took part in hostilities against Ukraine.
Ukrainian law enforcement officers remind that on March 15, 2022, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation issued an order to involve members of the “Unarmy” to participate in the so-called “special military operation”. According to the Strategy for the Development of Patriotic Education in the Russian Federation, at least 10% of recruits to the ranks of the armed forces must come from the “Unarmy”.
Also, according to British intelligence, violent political education of Ukrainian youth by the Russian authorities in the illegally occupied territories of Ukraine continues.
“The youth organization of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Yunarmiya, and the Kremlin’s youth organization, the Movement of the First, are among those organizations that teach Ukrainian children military skills and impose pro-Russian and anti-Ukrainian propaganda on them. “Russian educational authorities seek to counter alleged ‘extremism’ – a term for which the Russian authorities have a broad definition,” the message reads.
In particular, the intelligence draws attention to the fact that in the manual of the Ministry of Education of Russia for 2022 entitled “Prevention of conflicts, manifestations of extremism and terrorism in a multicultural educational environment” the phrase “Glory to Ukraine” was called an indicator of extremism.
