In the morning it became known that the management of Sporting made a decision to fire Joao Pereira, who had been in charge of the team since November. Before him, the team was headed by Ruben Amorim, who moved to Manchester United.
Rui Borges became Sporting’s third coach in the first half of the season. Previously, he worked with such teams as “Mirandala”, “Academic Viseu”, “Coimbra”, “Nacional”, “Vilafrancense”, “Mafra” and “Moreirense”.
Borges’ last place of work was Vitoria Guimarães, with which he took 6th place in the championship and successfully performed in the main round of the Conference League.
