NYT: DPRK soldiers were taken out of the front in Kurshchyna because of the loss

North Korea military who participated in hostilities against Ukraine on the side of the Russian army in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation was taken from the front line after heavy losses, writes The New York Times, citing Ukrainian and American officials.

The interlocutors of the publication note that the North Korean military was not noticed at the front for about two weeks.

According to the Ukrainian official, the losses of the DPRK servicemen have led to the increase in their benches and the lack of coherence with the Russian units. From the moment of arrival on the battlefield, the North Korean soldiers have been left to the same way, moving with a small amount of armored vehicles and rarely stopping for regrouping, said the Ukrainian interlocutor of the publication.

American officials who have been talking to The New York Times, believe that the decision to remove the North Korean military from the front may be temporary. According to them, the DPRK soldiers can return after additional training or after finding new ways in the Russian army in the Russian army to avoid such heavy losses.

The arrival of the first North Korean soldiers in Kurshchyna became known last fall.

According to the US, South Korea and Ukraine, Russia arrived from 10 to 12 thousand North Korean military in October. They were involved in the war on the side of Russia, the DPRK units were used in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation.

Moscow and Pyongyang were not confirmed by the direct involvement of the North Korean military in battles.

On January 11, Ukraine announced the capture of two soldiers from North Korea in Kurshchyna.

The intelligence of the Republic of Korea quoted the words of one of the captured soldiers of the DPRK that “there were” significant “losses in Russia among the North Korean soldiers in Russia.” They also noted that one of the prisoners was left without food and water for four to five days before it was seized by Ukrainian forces.

In general, the losses of the DPRK are estimated by hundreds and even thousands of people, but there is no independent confirmation of this data.
