Holidays November 3, 2025 in Ukraine
On Monday, November 3, 2025, the Day of Engineering Troops is celebrated in Ukraine. The holiday was approved by the presidential decree of October 27, 1999 No. 1399/99 as a sign of the outstanding merits of sappers, veterans and soldier-engineers of Ukraine. Every year, engineering troops are involved not only in military operations, but also in the elimination of natural disasters, in particular, floods in the Western regions of Ukraine, the protection of bridges and hydrotechnical structures during the ice advance, and rescue operations.
International holidays on November 3, 2025
Starting in 2022, November 3 will be celebrated annually as the International Day of Biosphere Reserves. The global network of biosphere reserves covers 748 sites in 134 countries. The Man and the Biosphere (MAB) program, launched in 1971, is the oldest intergovernmental scientific program of UNESCO. It highlights the role of UNESCO’s biospheres as drivers of positive change, addressing pressing issues such as climate change and biodiversity loss. The World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR) was established in 1976 as a framework for conserving biodiversity, restoring ecosystems and living in harmony with nature.
On November 3, Panama celebrates the National Day of the Republic, which appeared in 1903. After gaining independence from Spain in 1821, Panama was part of Colombia. With the support of the USA, Panama declares independence from Colombia in 1903. Between 1904 and 1914, the US Army Corps of Engineers built the Panama Canal. The canal and the land around the canal is placed under US control.
Church holidays on November 3, 2025
Today, November 3, in the Orthodox calendar, is the day of remembrance of the holy martyrs Akepsim, Joseph and Aital. The holy martyr Akepsim was a bishop in the Persian province during the reign of Shapur II (Sapor II) in the 4th century. He led the Christian community in a city called Naesson in Persia, according to sources. At the age of about 80, he was arrested by order of the king. Akepsim refused to make a sacrifice to the Persian (pagan) gods, which caused the anger of the authorities. He was brought to the city of Arbel, where he was judged by the priest Ardach, the servant of the sun god. Then the bishop was thrown into prison together with presbyter Yosif and deacon Aital. In the end, Akepsima was beheaded.
Presbyter Yosif is a co-martyr of Akepsima, a minister-priest, an activist of the Christian community of Persia. After the arrest of Akepsimus, Joseph was thrown into prison together with the deacon Aital. Joseph experienced great suffering: according to the descriptions, he was tortured for several hours before his death. He was taken to the place of execution, where he was stoned. A guard was placed near the body so that the Christians could not take the body.
Deacon Aital is a younger co-servant of Joseph and Akepsim, who shared their fate of martyrdom. Arrested later for Akepsim but kept together with him and Joseph. After some time, he was executed by stoning in the village of Patrias.
