On November 22, Ukraine celebrates Holodomor Memorial Day. The Museum of Holodomor in Kyiv will be open to the public from 1:00 p.m., admission is free for everyone.
This is reported on the museum’s website.
At 16:00 on November 22, Ukraine will honor the memory of millions of innocent people killed during the Holodomor with a national minute of silence.
In 1932–1933, the communist totalitarian regime carried out the genocide of the Ukrainian people. Millions of Ukrainians died from artificial starvation caused by forcible seizure of food, blockade of villages, travel bans and repression against those who tried to resist.
In the conditions of the new Russian-Ukrainian war, the policy of destruction continues again: Russia again commits war crimes and continues genocidal practices against Ukrainians.
Therefore, the memory of the Holodomor becomes an important element of our stability, unity and mobilization for struggle and victory.
During the day of November 22, you can also visit places of honor to the victims of the Holodomor in your locality, and at 4:00 p.m. stop, join the nationwide moment of silence and light a Candle of Remembrance on the windowsill – at home, at work or wherever you are.
A candle in the window is a sign that we, the living, remember the dead. This is our silent protest against the genocide and a symbol of faith in the future of Ukraine.
Wherever you are on November 22 at 4:00 p.m., you should light a Candle of Remembrance, remember those who were killed by hunger, and support those who defend our freedom.
We will remind you that November 20 was the Children’s Protection Day in Ukraine. Believers honor the memory of Saint Gregory the Decapolitan.
