The Russian Z-community complains about the Ukrainian WER, which covers the offensive of the Armed Forces in Kurshchyna.
The Telegram channel “Operation Z”, which collected the posts of Russian military correspondents, wrote that for the breakthrough, the Armed Forces “covered the area with powerful means of radio-electronic warfare, which made it difficult for our UAVs to work.”
“It cannot be said that they were not expected in this direction, but they managed to use the means of radio-electronic warfare VERY effectively,” says the message of the Razvedos Advanced Gear & Equipment channel.
Military blogger Roman Alyokhin claimed that Ukraine’s EW had rendered most Russian drones ineffective, although some frequencies were available for use.
“The area is somehow covered by a powerful EW, nothing flies at all,” wrote military blogger Serhii Kolyasnikov.
As Business Insider points out, electronic warfare is increasingly becoming a key factor on the battlefield. One recent consequence of this has been the proliferation of fiber-optic drones, now used by both sides. Since the signal between the drone and the operator is carried through a cable, and not through radio waves, such drones are resistant to the effects of EW systems.
“If they become massive, they could become another challenge for the military, which already spends a lot of money to prepare for the threat of drones,” writes Business Insider, pointing to the latest American developments in the field of EW.
Drone war in UkraineAs UNIAN wrote, during December, the Defense Forces of Ukraine hit more than 54,000 enemy targets with the help of drones. According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, at the same time, the enemy has increased the share of attack UAVs with a fiber-optic control channel, which poses a threat to Ukrainian military equipment.
We also told that Ukraine should produce 30,000 long-range UAVs and 3,000 missiles this year. This is not counting short-range FPV drones.
