In 2026, Norway will allocate seven billion dollars to Ukraine to strengthen defense and join the creation of joint defense production on Ukrainian territory.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal after a meeting with Norwegian Defense Minister Tore Sandvik during a working visit to this country.
According to him, the parties signed two key documents — a memorandum on uniform quality standards for defense products and an agreement on the creation of a joint venture with the participation of Ukrainian and Norwegian companies.
During the negotiations, the priority needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were discussed, in particular, the strengthening of air defense. Ukraine also offered its partners its experience in combating drones.
Shmyhal emphasized that Norway continues to be one of the most reliable allies of Ukraine, supporting the supply of F-16s, participation in the PURL initiative and the Coalition of Maritime Capabilities.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Har Støre announced the allocation of additional funds to provide Ukraine with electricity and heating before winter.
Norway announced an increase in civilian support to Ukraine in 2026. The funds will be used to restore energy, support hospitals and schools, humanitarian aid, and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
