“Norway and Denmark are investigating similar incidents with drones that paralyzed the operation of the airports in Oslo and Copenhagen. The connection between events has not yet been established”, – WRITE: www.radiosvoboda.org
“We have not yet established that the investigation has found any relationship between the two events. We also did not associate it with a particular country. But obviously, I think most people will say that two similar things that happen at the same time can at least indicate that there was a connection between them, ”said Espen Bart Eida Reuters in the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
The minister noted that Norway does not confirm and does not exclude that these two factors are related.
“We can say that at this time hybrid threats and potential hybrid warfare we should pay attention to this,” he said, calling it a very strong warning.
Western security services have in recent years stated that hybrid threats, especially from Russia, have become increasingly aggressive. Such threats include everything from the physical sabotage of critical infrastructure to misinformation campaigns, suspicion of espionage and cyberattack.
On the evening of September 22, the Airport of Denmark, Copenhagen, suspended work due to unknown drones. According to police, two or three drones were noticed above the airfield. The airport resumed operating after about four hours, after the drones left the airspace near it.
Denmark’s police have no data on who could launch them. The police representative stressed that the “experienced operator” was managed by drones.
Denmark Prime Minister Mette Frederixen called what happened to the most serious attack on the country’s critical infrastructure lately.
Also late on the evening of September 22, for about three hours, the Airport of the Norway Oslo capital was closed – two drones. Several flights were canceled or redirected. The drones also flew later, the airport resumed work.
NATO previously stated “deep concern for Russia’s hybrid actions.” These are diversions, violence acts, cyber and electronic intervention, misinformation campaigns and other hybrid surgery.
