Two prisoners of war from North Korea, who fought on the side of Russia in Ukraine, asked to be handed over to South Korea. The North Koreans expressed their request on October 28 in Kyiv during an interview for a documentary film.
This is stated in a documentary by the human rights organization Gyeore-eol Nation United, Barron’s and Yonhap write.
The interview was coordinated by the South Korean human rights organization Gyeore-eol Nation United. According to her, one of the soldiers had previously made a similar request in February, when he was visited by a representative of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea.
Ukrainian officials note that the prisoners are in a psychologically unstable state and tried to harm themselves. From the photos taken during the shooting of the film, it can be seen that the wound on the jaw of one of the North Korean soldiers has already healed, although it led to the deformation of the bone. Both soldiers asked for eye medicine, knitwear, trousers, cigarettes, pens and books through the film producer.
It will be recalled that President Volodymyr Zelenskyi was the first to inform about the Korean prisoners.
The SBU and SSO spoke in more detail about the captured North Korean soldiers. They posted a video of the capture of North Korean soldiers by SSO soldiers.
