North Korea to provide Russia with more ballistic missiles and heavy equipment – USA

The United States has information that North Korea is preparing additional deliveries to Russia of ballistic missiles, as well as long-range self-propelled guns and MLRS. In this regard, the US calls on China to influence the DPRK to prevent the escalation of the conflict.

Details: Speaking about Russia’s military aid, Wood said that last year it received from North Korea more than 18,000 containers of ammunition and related equipment and “over 100 ballistic missiles” that were used to strike Ukrainian cities.

“The DPRK is preparing to transfer even more ballistic missiles. We also have information that a large number of 170-mm long-range self-propelled artillery installations and 240-mm multiple rocket launchers originating from North Korea are beginning to be used in the conflict,” the US ambassador added.

According to him, in exchange for military assistance, Russia has given Pyongyang air defense systems, as well as fuel, technology and dual-purpose equipment.

“In this regard, we note that China has influence and capabilities when it comes to North Korea, and it urgently needs to use this influence to prevent further escalation of the conflict,” Wood emphasized.

North Korea and Russia intensified their cooperation after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. The countries signed an agreement that obliges each side to provide immediate military assistance to the other in the event of armed aggression against one of them.

In recent months, there have been confirmed reports that North Korea has sent artillery shells and ballistic missiles to Russia, and more recently, its own troops for combat operations against Ukraine.
