No chance for the Russian woman: Svitolina made it to the 1/4 finals of the Australian Open-2025

Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (27) turned out to be stronger than the Russian (performs under a neutral flag – note) to Veronika Kudermetova.

The game ended with the score 6:4, 6:1.

The meeting did not start in the best way for Elina – the opponent led 4:1. After that, the Ukrainian completely dominated, taking 5 games in a row.

Svitolina continued her streak in the next set, taking her serve. The Russian was close to serving again, but Elina failed to realize her break point.

The next game ended in a stalemate, and then the second racket of Ukraine did make a break.

The Russian began to lash out at the coach, but this did not make her play any better. Svitolina “felt the blood” – aggressive serves, going to the net, powerful shots.

The representative of the aggressor country could not serve, she constantly made mistakes. The legs were also weak. It is not surprising that Elina took the second set almost without problems.

The match lasted 1 hour and 20 minutes. The woman from Odesa served 5 innings for elimination with 3 double errors. She managed to realize 5 out of 9 breakpoints.

The Russian did not serve for the exit, but she was also not marked by double faults, although she had a very low percentage of the first serve (43%). Kudermetova made 2 out of 3 breakpoints.

It was the third career meeting for tennis players. Before this game, Elina had no wins against Kudermetova.

So, Svitolina will play in the quarter-final stage of the Australian Open for the third time and for the twelfth time overall at Grand Slam tournaments. The opponent of the Ukrainian tennis player will be the winner of the Rybakina-Kiz pair. The match is scheduled for January 22.

Earlier, Diana Yastremska ended her match in the third round of the Australian Open with a defeat.

It should be noted that earlier the husband of tennis player Gael Monfils sensationally beat the fourth racket of the world on the way to the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Unfortunately, Nadiya Kichenok, who together with Leila Fernandez (Canada) could not make it to the 1/4 finals of the doubles, lost to Kateryna Sinyakova (Czech Republic)/Taylor Thousand (USA)
