Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not go to Washington for the inauguration of Donald Trump as the President of the United States on January 20. This was reported by the prime minister’s senior assistant, writes The Times of Israel, reports UNN.

Israeli officials have said in recent weeks that Netanyahu was expected to make the trip to the US and attend the inauguration.

Before the US elections, Trump told Netanyahu that Israel would have to end the conflict in Gaza before the start of his presidency. However, Trump did not set specific conditions, but only indicated that he wants Israel to officially announce the end of the conflict. In his opinion, the Israeli army will probably be able to continue its limited activities even after he takes office.

According to The Times of Israel, part of the victory that Trump wanted to see before his inauguration was the return of Israeli hostages from Gaza.

In early December, Donald Trump warned of an unprecedented military response by the United States if the hostages in the Middle East were not released by January 20, 2025.
