NBU in October will start withdrawing 10 cents from circulation

The National Bank stated that in October it would start withdrawing a coin of 10 cents from circulation.

About it It is said In the NBU press -realization.

The regulator notes that these exchange coins remain payment. Trading networks, services of services and banks of Ukraine will continue to accept them for calculations and payment transactions.

From October 1:

  • Ukrainian banks will not issue such coins from all types of cash operations;
  • The National Bank will not mince coins with a denomination of 10 cents and stop reinforcement of banks’ cash desks to replenish cash circulation.

Thus, when they enter the banks, such coins will not be returned, but will be removed and transmitted to the NBU for further transfer and disposal.

“Due to the considerable proportion of coins of 10 cents in circulation and reducing demand for them by banks and the trading network, the decision on their gradual removal will reduce the costs of the state and participants of cash circulation for the production, processing, transportation, storage and circulation of such coins,” – the message reads.

Citizens will not need to hand over coins to banks.
