Naftogaz declared the first Azerbaijani gas import agreement with the Transbalance Route

For the first time, Ukraine imports the Azerbaijani gas with a transbalance route, the press service of the state company Naftogaz reports with reference to the chairman of the board of Sergey Koretsky.

Naftogaz was reported to have concluded the first Azerbaijani gas purchase agreement with SOCAR.

“The test delivery is carried out by the Bulgaria – Romania – the Ukrainian border. It is small in volume, but a strategically important step that opens the path to long -term cooperation. And also another example of diversification of sources of supply and strengthening of Ukraine’s energy security, ”Koretsky said.

Earlier this year, Reuters, citing a source in the Ukrainian gas industry, wrote that Ukraine has lost 40% of gas production after Russian rocket strokes, and Kiev plans to import up to 800 million cubic meters of gas from Europe to compensate for losses.
