Nadia Kichenok and her partner knocked out the second seeds at the start of Hobart

Ukrainian tennis player Nadia Kichenok won the opening doubles match at the WTA 250 hard court tournament in Hobart, Australia.

In the first round, the Ukrainian woman together with Makoto Ninomiya (Japan) beat the tandem in two sets Chan Hao-Ching (Chinese Taipei) / Jiang Xinyu (China) in 1 hour and 38 minutes.

In the first game, Nadiya and Makoto trailed 1:4, and then won the serve for the set with a score of 3:5, winning four games in a row.

This was the first face-to-face confrontation between the duos. Kichenok and Ninomiya will fight either Katarzyna Peter and Janice Tjen or Gabriela Da Silva Fick and Alexandra Osborne in the second round.

Nadiya and Makoto held their 13th match together since July 2025 and won their 11th. The Ukrainian and the Japanese began their journey to the third WTA 250 trophy – last summer they became champions in Hamburg and Prague.
