NABU and SAP exposed the leader of one of the factions of the Verkhovna Rada, who offered people’s deputies an undue benefit for voting “for” or “against” certain draft laws. According to law enforcement officials, bribes were offered to deputies from other factions. An attempt to “buy” votes is punishable by imprisonment for a term of four to eight years. “NABU and SAP have exposed the head of one of the parliamentary factions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for offering illegal benefits to a number of people’s deputies,” the Bureau’s Telegram message says.
The law enforcement officers clarified that the suspect offered bribes to people’s deputies from other factions, who in return had to vote “for” or “against” certain legislative initiatives.
The name of the leader of the faction is not disclosed. At the same time, information appeared in the mass media that NABU and SAP are conducting searches in the office of the Batkivshchyna party. The message reminds that the punishment for attempting to bribe a people’s deputy is: “imprisonment for a period of four to eight years with or without confiscation of property.”
