Throughout the tournament, the “Lions” demonstrated a confident game, leaving no chances for their opponents.

Sport.ua chatted with a L&G player, Mykhailo “Malkiss” Shulgaabout their triumph and impressions of the tournament:

How do you rate your performance in the tournament? What was the most difficult moment?

– Our form at the tournament was not peak. There is still room for growth, there is room for development, because a lot of things are happening on the maps, things that we do not want to happen. So in the future, I think we will only get better and show a much better game than we did in this tournament. The most difficult moment in general was the break between the first semi-final and the grand final. Because there were very long delays due to the unreal TNL match against kONO.ECF. ON this game, they had extra rounds on two maps, it was very, very tiring.

kONO.ECF played a grueling semi-final against TNL. Did you feel like that gave you an edge in the final?

In fact, the semi-final between TNL and kONO.ECF was simply incredible. I’ll be honest with you, we even at one point just turned off the NAVI vs. G2 grand final to watch this amazing showdown. It was so cool from both teams that they didn’t give up and tried to win. But I don’t think we got an advantage from it. We also, like kONO.ECF, we can say, waited a very long time. It’s also pretty tiring sitting around looking at who you’re going to play against, plus we had another tournament on the same day.

The Nuke map has become crucial to your victory. How did you prepare for this map and what were your main strategies?

As with all the other maps, the Nuke map is actually a very strong map that used to be in L&G when I played before this. With Bohdan “kr1vda” Kryvda, we played there a long time ago and in pairs, and we did a lot of things and we know what to do. Likewise, the coach of the team, Dmytro “rjy” Chumak, brought us a lot for this Nuke. So we didn’t have anything particularly complicated to prepare. In the future, you just need to develop the entire map pool in order to continue to surprise and defeat your opponents.

Did you expect the game on the first card of the Super Final to go to overtime? How did it affect your team?

Most likely not. But the fact that we lost 12:9 at one point and then went to extra rounds, at that moment we felt that the game was not over yet. We understood that we can continue to show the game, that it is not the end, we can show them that we are much better than we were before that. So the team just tried to win each round. As a result, it turned out that they went to overtime, and already there they won the map.

The match against the Finns from ENCE is ahead. What are your expectations for this game? Do you think that the game against them will be similar to matches with Ukrainian teams, or does the confrontation with foreign opponents have its own characteristics?

– Personally, I have no expectations. This is another match in the tournament and all we have to do is to show our strongest performance. Just win round after round, map after map. As for the similarities between Ukrainian and foreign CS, there are still some similarities. That is, Ukrainians are actually a little more individually skilled than foreigners, but they (foreigners) have a much, much better structure. And because of that, sometimes it is either convenient to play against them, or very, very uncomfortable, depending on how they build their game. So we’ll see how it goes, and I hope you’ll cheer for us.
