Axios, referring to the document and confirmation from Ukrainian and American officials, reported the details of the Trump administration’s 28-point peace plan, according to which Ukraine should give up part of its territories, limit the size of the army and enshrine in the Constitution the refusal to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Deputy Ambassador of Ukraine to the UN Khrystyna Hayovyshyn said during the meeting of the UN Security Council that Ukraine is ready to work constructively on the peace plan, but outlined clear and unbreakable “red lines” related to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state.
Prehistory:
- The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, officially received from the American side the draft plan, and agreed to discuss it.
- Information about the new US “peace plan” appeared in a number of American mass media on November 19. In these publications, it was mentioned that the plan provides for the transfer of all of Donbas to Russia, also that Ukraine should limit its arsenal of weapons, cut the army in half and agree to Russian as the second state language.
- Donald Trump’s administration is putting strong pressure on Ukraine, demanding that it agree to a US-Russian peace plan by Thanksgiving, i.e. by November 27.
