Moldova sent Greece an official request for extradition of oligarch Plahotniuk

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova sent Greece an official request for extradition of the fugitive oligarch Vlad Plahotniuk.

About it reports Ziarul de Gardream, informs “European Truth”.

Plahotniuk was detained on July 22 in Greece on the basis of an international search announced by Interpol.

“A criminal investigation is underway in the Republic of Moldova, including the creation and management of a criminal organization, fraud in particularly large amounts and money laundering in accordance with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Moldova,” the Moldovan Processor’s Office said.

The department has expressed confidence that the Greek side will satisfy their request “on the basis of obligations accepted under international judicial cooperation”.

The extradition procedure begins with the moment of transfer of the relevant request to the state in which the person was detained, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Moldova reminded.
