Ministry of Energy: due to Russian shelling of the energy infrastructure, there are partial blackouts in three regions

Emergency and restoration work at power facilities is ongoing”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org

As a result of hostilities and shelling of the energy infrastructure, consumers in the Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk and Kharkiv regions were partially cut off, the Ministry of Energy reports in a telegram.

Emergency and restoration work at power facilities is ongoing.

It is noted that energy workers also continue to eliminate the consequences of two massive attacks on the power system during the past week – restoration continues both at power plants and at high-voltage substations that provide the power output of the nuclear power plant.

The Ministry of Energy explains that currently nuclear generation is still partially unloaded.

On February 7, the Russian military carried out another massive attack on energy facilities in Ukraine. According to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, substations and overhead lines of 750 kV and 330 kV – “the basis of the energy grid of Ukraine” – were under attack, as well as generation: Burshtynska TPP (located in Ivano-Frankivsk region) and Dobrotvirska TPP (in Lviv region).

The Ministry of Energy says that Ukrainian nuclear power plants have been forced to reduce their generation capacity.

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that Russian troops attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones during the night and morning of February 7, a total of 447 means of air attack. According to the report, the main directions of the attack were Lviv Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Rivne Oblast, and Vinnytsia Oblast.

After the massive attacks by the Russian Federation, Ukraine’s energy system is under a state of emergency, and since January 29, temporary schedules instead of emergency schedules began to operate in Kyiv.

The Security Service of Ukraine qualifies Russia’s strikes on Ukrainian energy infrastructure as crimes against humanity. The SBU previously noted that since the beginning of this year’s heating season, it has documented at least 256 air attacks by the Russian Federation on energy facilities and heat supply systems of Ukraine.
