This paradox is a consequence of structural distortions in the labor market, economist Oleg Pendzyn, a member of the economic discussion club, told KYIV24.

“We have an extremely large shortage of personnel in certain fields of activity. We are talking about labor specialties, people who work in logistics. At the same time, when we talk about economic specialties, legal professions, journalism, there is a sufficiently large number of people, who are looking for work and cannot find it,” the expert said.

According to Pendzin, this situation indicates a significant structural distortion of the labor market. He cites problems with professional education, in particular with training for labor specialties, as the root cause of this situation.

The expert also noted that there is now an acute shortage of workers in traditionally male professions. For example, now logistics companies are forced to open courses for women to learn how to drive cargo transport.

The situation on the labor market in UkraineAs UNIAN wrote, the level of official unemployment in Ukraine has reached a historic low. However, it is about the number of those who are officially registered as unemployed. As of December, there were only 94,200 of them, of which 75,800 were women.

At the same time, employers’ need for workers continues to grow. There are only 46,700 officially registered vacancies in Ukraine, which is 50% more than a year ago.
