Windows 10 has been reported long ago and Microsoft tried to force users to update Windows 11, even showing them advertising for the entire screen with a proposal to buy a new computer.
The popularity of Windows 10 is explained by the fact that there are still millions of computers in the world that do not meet Windows 11 requirements. In addition, many users do not want to update the system for various reasons.
According to Statcounter, Windows 11 has been in popularity in July 2025. However, in August, Windows 10 returned her positions. It is even more interesting that in August and September the popularity of Windows 7, which is almost 16 years old, has unexpectedly increased.
Microsoft is likely to be aware that Windows 10 is still very popular and takes into account the position of consumer protection organizations. Therefore, the company will allow users who do not want to update Windows 11, receive another year of free security updates, but now this opportunity is available only in the European economic zone.
Other important updates, such as NVIDIA Game Ready Drivers, will also be released by October 2026. At the same time, Microsoft is less generous and will stop updating with new features for Microsoft 365 (Office) in August next year.
In addition, the State Secretariat of Ukraine has released a reservation about possible cybercrims for Windows 10 users.
