The company simply decided to try something new, says Sarah Bond.

However, Xbox President Sarah Bond denied these rumors in an interview with Variety and confirmed that the next generation of consoles is already in the works:
“We 100% intend to create new devices. We are currently developing a new generation of consoles, we are engaged in prototyping and design. A partnership with AMD within this project has already been announced, the process is ongoing.”
According to her, ROG Ally is not a rejection of its own Xbox consoles, but an expansion of the ecosystem. Microsoft just saw an opportunity to offer players another option, Bond says.
Prices for ROG Ally and ROG Ally X were determined jointly with ASUS. At the same time, as Bond emphasized, the decisive word remained with ASUS, it is she who is responsible for the iron and proceeded from her ideas about the ratio of characteristics and cost.
Despite the hefty price tag, interest in the devices has been higher than expected, with pre-orders on the Xbox Store selling out instantly and sales around the world going strong, says Sarah Bond.
Previously, a Microsoft representative denied rumors that the next Xbox console may not be in the comments for Windows Central. The company recalled that they had signed an agreement with AMD to develop the devices.
