The weather station in Baryshevka reported that the minimum daily air temperature on January 28 was 5.5 degrees Celsius, which exactly three degrees exceeding previous records, recorded in 1983 and 2001.
The average daily temperature is also a record – 6.4 degrees (compared to 5.7 degrees in 1983).
Similar results were reported by weather stations in Boryspil, Bila Tserkva, Myronivtsi and Piskivtsi.
Forecasters are now predicting a decrease in temperature in the first decade of February, but as reported at a briefing in Kyiv by a spokeswoman for Ukrhydromet Center Natalia Ptukha, the average monthly temperature in February will be “still one and a half or two degrees above climatic norm” (Quotation by Interfax Agency ” ).
