Gas station employees will be able to dispense drugs under a license, and there must be a separate area for storing drugs in the premises. The government has changed the licensing conditions for the trade in medicinal products. Now, pharmacies in state and communal hospitals are obliged to sell only three drugs with the lowest prices for each composition and form of release. This guarantees patients access to the most cost-effective medicines.
What’s new: the sale of over-the-counter drugs is allowed at gas stations without the establishment of a pharmacy or its structural division. Employees of gas stations can dispense drugs, subject to compliance with storage rules, the presence of a separate area and an authorized pharmacy specialist. Sales through vending machines are also allowed under the same conditions.
“The introduction of such changes is aimed at increasing the physical availability of over-the-counter medicines in conditions of limited operation of the pharmacy network and uneven placement of pharmacies,” explains the Ministry of Health.
The department adds that the factors of war, power outages and increasing burden on the medical system make gas stations stable points for access to medicines. To start sales, gas stations must obtain a license from the State Medical Service after checking compliance with all requirements.
