Media: the Prime Minister of Japan plans to meet with Zelensky in the USA

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in the United States. This was reported by the Japanese broadcaster NHK.

He is expected to convey Japan’s intention to maintain support for Kyiv and sanctions against Russia.

Today, September 21, the Prime Minister of Japan begins his last visit to the United States.

In the USA, Kisida will meet with US President Joe Biden at the US leader’s private residence in Delaware. There will also be a summit with the participation of Japan, the USA, Australia and India.

As NHK writes, the Japanese prime minister will take part in the future summit, which is ongoing at the UN General Assembly in New York. Kisida plans to call for reform of the UN. It is also likely to emphasize the importance of a rules-based international order and promote efforts to abolish nuclear weapons.

Fumio Kishida will not stand for a second term in the elections of the head of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. He will leave the position of prime minister after the elections, which will be held in September.
