The talks began in the capital of the United Arab Emirates on Friday. According to the Secretary of the National Security Council Rustem Umerov, the meeting discussed the parameters of the end of the war and the “further logic” of the negotiation process.
From the US side, the special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff, son-in-law of Donald Trump Jared Kushner, Commissioner of the Federal Procurement Service Josh Gruenbaum, US Secretary of the Army General Daniel Driscoll and the commander of NATO forces in Europe General Alex Hrynkevich were present.
The Russian delegation included representatives of military intelligence and the army.
Before the start of the negotiations, the press secretary of the ruler of the Russian Federation, Dmytro Peskov, said that the Kremlin insists on the withdrawal of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbas, as it seems to be an important condition for negotiations on ending the war.
