Media Little: Since February 2022, more than 20,000 cases of refusal of service have been received by Russian military courts

In Russia, since the beginning of a full -scale invasion of Ukraine, 20,538 cases have been received in courts under articles on unauthorized leaving of part, failure to comply with order and desertion, and calculated the publication of “Mediazon” on the basis of data from court sites.

Most cases have been initiated under the article on unauthorized leaving of the part – 18 159.

The courts declared sentences 17.7 thousand persons. According to the newspaper, in April 2025, the courts made an average of 38 decisions in such cases each working day – there are 848 sentences a month.

Military investigators, as it is noted, in the spring of 2025 came to peak indicators – they transfer about a thousand cases to the courts every month throughout Russia.

The Russian BBC, Media Again and Volunteer team were confirmed by the names of 110 608 Russian soldiers who died during a full-scale invasion of Ukraine. They point out that real losses can be much higher: the analysis of Russian cemeteries, memorials and the obituaries they analyzes can cover from 45% to 65% of the real number of dead.
