On the evening of November 14, Odesa suffered a massive combined enemy attack. Russian missiles hit cultural heritage sites protected by UNESCO, reports UNN with reference to the Ministry of Culture.

According to the agency, as a result of the attack by the occupiers, cultural heritage sites located within the threatened world heritage site “Historical Center of Odessa” and its buffer zone were damaged:

The building of the technological institute, in which during the defense of the city Odesa was home to a detachment of scout sailors of the Odesa Defense District (1936-1938, architect A.B. Minkus);

The building of the Richelieu Lyceum (Novorossiysk University) (1852-1857, architect O.S. Shashin);

Zarifi Residential Building (1840s, 1851, architect N.N. Cherkunov, F.Y. Morandi);

We will remind, on January 25, at the 18th extraordinary session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, the object “Historic Center of the Port City of Odesa” was included in the List of World Heritage under threat in order to preserve Ukrainian cultural heritage. The decision of this year’s 46th meeting of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee confirmed the status of this object in the relevant list.
