On the morning of January 27, the Vinnytsia region was covered by heavy icing, which led to large-scale accidents on power grids.
JSC Vinnytsiaoblenergo announced this on Facebook.
Dozens of wires broke under the weight of the ice, poles were damaged, as a result of which hundreds of settlements were left without electricity.
According to the company “Vinnytsiaoblenergo”, as of six o’clock in the morning, 243 settlements were without power, and this is almost 92 thousand consumers in various regions of the region.
Due to bad weather, four 110 kV power transmission lines and 116 10 kV lines failed.
Areas where it rained during the night in sub-zero temperatures were the most affected – the wires were covered with a thick layer of ice, which caused short circuits and emergency shutdowns.
Energy experts note that the situation remains difficult, but under control.
Dozens of emergency teams and specialized equipment were used to eliminate the consequences of the natural disaster. Work continues around the clock — repairmen clean lines, replace damaged equipment, and restore power supply.
“Vinnytsiaoblenergo” assured that the energy supply is being restored gradually, and light is already returning to some households.
As a reminder, emergency and hourly blackouts continue in Ukraine on January 27.
Kyiv residents are also assured that there is enough light in the network.
