The reason is quite strange and unexpected – the light was switched off throughout Spain. Even Portugal touched the problem. The reasons are specified.

People have panic. In Europe, they were clearly not ready for this.
Madrid competitions (ATR 1000 and WTA 1000) are held on soil courts from April 22 to May 4. On April 28, one representative of Ukraine – Yulia Starodubtseva – managed to hold her match. In the fourth round of the thousands, she gave way to Mirri Andreeva.
On Monday, two more Ukrainians have to play in the capital of Spain: Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostyuk. Kostyuk’s meeting with Potapova was scheduled for 4:00 pm for Kiev, and Elina’s game against Maria Sakkari – at 22:00.
It is not known at this time whether there will be any changes in the schedule and the transfer of matches the next day, but it is clear that the duels will begin later.
