Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has managed to return 3,767 Ukrainians from Russian captivity, of which only 186 are civilians, reported Human Rights Commissioner Dmytro Lubinets.

“As of now, together with the coordination headquarters and other bodies, we managed to return 3,767 Ukrainians from Russian captivity. I personally spoke with some of them, but all of them tell about physical, psychological. Many told about sexual torture,” he said during a press conference.

At the same time, according to him, Kyiv does not give the figure of how many more prisoners of war remain in Russian captivity.

“But I can say that, according to our official data, tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens are in Russian captivity – civilians and prisoners of war,” the ombudsman added.

In October, as part of the last prisoner exchange between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, 95 Ukrainians were freed from Russian captivity, among them was human rights defender, journalist and military serviceman Maksym Butkevich.
