The French fashion house Louis Vuitton surprised fans of premium accessories with an unusual creation – a mechanical table clock in the shape of a vintage truck for transportation. The innovation called “Camionnette Edition Limitée” was created as an artistic interpretation of the cars that transported the brand’s signature suitcases around France in the 1920s. The La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton manufactory worked on the watch together with the Swiss manufacturer L’Epée 1839. The design of the model is inspired by vans of the early 20th century, in particular the style of the Citroën B10, which once became a symbol of the fashion house’s logistics.
The cost of the limited version is staggering — 650,000 euros, which exceeds the cost of many modern supercars. The total volume of production is only 15 copies. This price is due to the complexity of execution and expensive materials: the watch case is gold-plated and hand-decorated with 1,695 diamonds with a total weight of 41.44 carats. The decor is complemented by sapphires, and the main accent is the signature LV Monogram diamond weighing 0.51 carats. The weight of the watch is 7 kg.
The Camionnette mechanism is equally impressive. Inside is a manual caliber MV.7417/101 with a power reserve of up to eight days. The time is displayed using rotating cylinders, and winding is done by a special key, which is stored in a miniature Louis Vuitton trunk made of signature canvas, wood and brass.
In addition to the limited edition, the brand also offers a more affordable version of the watch — for 68,000 euros. It has an aluminum and steel case, finished in traditional Louis Vuitton colors, and retains the basic mechanical characteristics.
The novelty was another proof of how the fashion house combines jewelry art, watch mechanics and its own travel history.
