“How do you know if they even changed the parts you said they did? Before you give them the job, take pictures of the car and all the parts they say. And if you really don’t trust them, get some paint, or better yet, a small metal scraper and put a cross on the parts get the car, and it will still have this little “X” engraved on it, know that you have been cheated,” the expert explained.
According to the mechanic, drivers should try to photograph or label the parts that the mechanic says they will replace to make sure he did the job correctly.
Although this task may seem trivial, some less-than-scrupulous repair shops may claim that parts may need to be replaced when there is no need to, in order to bill you higher. In addition, Kilmer advised drivers not to be persuaded to fix problems they didn’t know existed, especially noting that some mechanics suggest that customers have their wheels aligned more often than necessary.
