The European Commission has confirmed that Tesla and BMW have filed lawsuits in the European Union, challenging the legality of these duties imposed at the end of October after an anti -sulfuric investigation.

Brussels claims that the state support of the Chinese Auto Industry creates dishonest competition for European producers. However, a number of automakers, including Tesla and BMW, which have production facilities in China, believe that these duties are detrimental to their business.

The decision to introduce duties was made against the backdrop of increasing competition by Chinese car manufacturers in the European market. The share of Chinese electric vehicles in the European market has increased significantly in recent years.

Germany, the largest road country of Europe, opposed the introduction of these duties, fearing measures in response from China. German car manufacturers, such as BMW, have significant investments in China and produce cars for the European market there.

Tesla, for its part, also has a plant in China, where the popular Model 3 model is produced. The decision of the Mask to challenge the EU duties may be associated with its desire to protect the company’s interests and reduce production costs.

The trial is expected to take a long time. The court’s decision can significantly affect the automotive industry in both Europe and China, as well as trade relations between the two largest economies in the world.
