I have many memories of going to restaurants. One incident, when I had just arrived and went to dinner with young teammates, was particularly memorable.
In their culture, there is a rule: no one begins the meal until the oldest person at the table begins. Their dishes were already brought, and mine was still being prepared – and they just sat in front of the food, not touching it.
I insisted, “Go ahead, my order is about to be delivered.” But they stood their ground: “No, we have no right.” If I hadn’t started eating at all, they would have gone hungry. Such etiquette became a real culture shock for me,” Lingard shared.
