Track in sports Mykhailo Korenovskyi was born on March 14, 1983 in Odesa. Mykhailo has been practicing boxing since childhood with coach Mykhailo Serzhenyuk. As an athlete, he became the champion of Odesa, and later – the champion of Ukraine. After moving to Dnipro, Korenovsky later became the head coach of the Sicheslavshchyna national boxing team. The specialist trained about a hundred children.
In particular, Korenovskyi was one of the first boxing coaches of Maryna Moroz, the only Ukrainian woman in the UFC. “I won my first Ukrainian boxing championship under his leadership,” Marina wrote on Instagram.

Death Mykhailo died during the Russian shelling of the Dnipro on January 14, 2023. That morning, the man was working at a competition as a judge, and shortly after he returned home, his apartment was completely destroyed. A wife with two children was outside at that moment. Together with Mykhailo, the family’s favorite dog, a Chihuahua, Basia, who was eight years old, died.

A photograph taken by Ukrainian photographer Yan Dobronosov, showing Korenovsky’s bright yellow kitchen visible through the missing exterior wall of the nine-story building in which it was housed, has been widely circulated on social networks, world and Ukrainian media. Dobronosov used a drone for filming.
Photo by Yan Dobronosov “Only yesterday, instead of this hole, there was my apartment, in which I lived with my family for nine years. At the time of the explosion, I was walking with my children on Slavy Boulevard, and my husband came home after the competition, ate and had to come out to us,” wrote the widow of the deceased, fitness trainer Olga Korenovska.
The woman hoped that the man had time to leave the apartment before the explosion, but on January 15, rescuers retrieved his body from under the rubble of the building.

“In this kitchen a month and a half ago, we, happy to have met, sat at a delicious dinner at the same table… Unfortunately, that was the last meeting,” recalls Yulia Chubsa, a friend of the family, with regret.
The video of the Korenovsky family, who celebrated their child’s birthday in the same kitchen a few days before the airstrike, is heartbreaking.
Tribute The coach was buried on January 17, 2023 after saying goodbye near the local physical education institute.
In memory of her father, the eldest daughter Margarita decided to do boxing.

On February 4, 2023, the first memorial to the honored coach of Ukraine Mykhailo Korenovsky was held. The tournament became traditional and took place in subsequent years.
By the second anniversary of Mykhailo Korenovsky’s death, the Dnipro city council decided to create a Mykhailo Korenovsky park.

What happened then On January 14, 2023, at 3:30 p.m. Kyiv time, Katsapas attacked a high-rise building in Dnipro, in which 1,700 people lived, with an anti-ship Kh-22 missile. As a result of the terrorist attack, 72 apartments were completely destroyed and 46 people died (six of them were children). Another 79 people received injuries of various degrees of severity. Rescuers spent three days clearing rubble at the site of the missile strike, and on January 17, the search and rescue operation was stopped.
The crime was committed by scumbags from the 52nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment based in Shaykivka. This is the same regiment that raided the “Amstor” shopping center in Kremenchuk, Poltava Oblast on June 27, 2022.
