We will remind, on February 7, she performed the composition “Ridnym”. Then, according to the decision of the jury and the audience, LELÉKA won and will go to represent Ukraine at the international song contest in Vienna. However, some viewers did not understand the singer’s choice of song. In particular, they wrote that it was worth choosing another artist from the repertoire, because she allegedly “gives a false, bright and correct image of our country.” But as the UNIAN correspondent reports, the singer explained at a meeting with supporters in one of the Kyiv bookstores that she submitted another song to the competition.
“Actually, the choice of which song will go to the National Selection was not up to me. Because I applied to the Eurovision Song Contest with the composition “Donbas Girl”. I submitted two completely different songs. And I really hoped that it would be “Donbas Girl”, because it is more timely for me and corresponds to the atmosphere in which we live, when we have a lot of reasons for dark emotions. It has even more sincerity, anger, but in an artistic way. But I received feedback that this song is too underground, too depressing and not suitable,” the artist said.
And although according to LELÉKA, she does not agree with such a decision, she still hopes that in the future it will be easier for her to defend her opinion regarding her own creativity.
“I’m no name, an unpopular artist for the general public, and that’s why I don’t understand. But I hope that the time will come when I will have more freedom to do as I see fit,” she emphasized.
It will be recalled that earlier the winner of the National Selection for Eurovision 2026 spoke about her desire to hand over her cup to another artist.
