Lekornia: the Russian Federation intimidated a French patrol plane over the Baltic Sea with the S-400 air defense system

On Wednesday evening, the French maritime patrol plane Atlantique 2 became the object of intimidation by Russia, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu reported on the X network on January 17.

According to him, the plane was patrolling the international airspace over the Baltic Sea as part of a NATO operation and was illuminated by the fire control radar of the S400 surface-to-air defense system.

“These aggressive actions of Russia are unacceptable. Our armed forces (NATO countries – ed.) will continue to act to protect freedom of navigation in international air and sea spaces,” the message states.

The Russian side has not yet commented on these reports.

The NATO military alliance has decided to increase its presence in the Baltic Sea at the request of Finland and Estonia amid recent damage to submarine cables.
