France’s Defense Minister Sebastian Lecorton stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine remains a “main guarantee of security” for the country, and that Europe will “abandon any demilitarization of the Ukrainian army.” He stated this at the Paris Defense and Strategy Forum, which gathered the military from all over Europe.

“It is also necessary to think about what the Ukrainian army should be in the future. And so to proceed from the principle that the first guarantee of security remains the Ukrainian army that we will give up any form of demilitarization of Ukraine, and the main duty of the European armed forces is to develop a framework-doctrinal, powerful and intellectual, on which the Ukrainian army will be able to base its fundamental.

According to him, this meeting is important because it lays “the first stone in shaping security guarantees”, which opens the way for further reflection – they are already known.

“As we, the European Armed Forces, we can give weights and authority to diplomatic negotiations, which must undoubtedly be long -term, because we have the experience that, unfortunately, we have not recently been observed,” the French minister added.

Also in Paris today French President Emmanuel Macron will discuss aspects of the deployment of a peacekeeping mission of troops.

According to British officials, about two dozen countries are interested in joining a coalition in support of Ukraine. According to British Prime Minister Kira Starmer, as part of a project headed by the United Kingdom and France, soldiers from the group can be sent to Ukraine as peacekeepers. At the same time, not every coalition will be ready to send peacekeeping troops – some countries may provide other support.

French Finance Minister Eric Lombard said that the United Kingdom, Germany, France and other European countries are ready to send troops to Ukraine to provide a possible truce.

According to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, if Ukraine is not admitted to NATO, peacekeepers from the Alliance should be placed in the country.

Instead, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated that Moscow did not see a compromise in the question of the potential placement of the European Peacekeeping Continent in Ukraine.
