In particular, Kuleba noted the “passive” position of the Starmer government regarding the Storm Shadow missiles.
“Boris Johnson set a high threshold. Rishi Sunak had no choice but to meet that threshold and push it further,” Kuleba emphasized.
He noted that when the Labor government of Kiir Starmer came to power, Ukraine received assurances that everything would remain as before. To a large extent, it was – with the exception of the Storm Shadow story, when Britain refused to allow Storm Shadow missile strikes on Russian territory without the agreement of US President Joe Biden.
“The only unpleasant conversation I had with British officials in the weeks before my resignation – and it was the first unpleasant conversation since the start of the full-scale invasion – was about the supply of Storm Shadows and the authorization of their use against certain targets. … Perhaps the reason was that the new government was cautious and did not want to hurry with decisions,” Kuleba said.
He emphasized that Britain should negotiate with the Americans regarding Ukraine, “and not just follow the decisions made by the United States.”
Kuleba about Trump’s positionEarlier, Dmytro Kuleba said that it will be difficult for Donald Trump to reach a peace agreement in the war, because there are still “fundamental differences” between Russia and Ukraine that make peace impossible.
At the same time, the ex-MFA head does not believe that Trump will fulfill his threat to stop military aid to Ukraine. According to him, Trump will be forced to change his mind if Kiev is again threatened by Russian troops.
