“Kolomoiskyi was not brought to the court because of the allegedly broken vehicle. His lawyers say that this is not the first time such a situation has happened recently”, — write: www.radiosvoboda.org
The session of the Kyiv Podil District Court was supposed to take place in the criminal proceedings regarding the losses of “Privatbank” and “Ukrnafta”. It was postponed to December 11.
Previously, Ihor Kolomoisky invited journalists and members of the public to attend this court session.
Kolomoiskyi’s defenders say that this is not the first time such a situation has happened recently. The lawyers did not expect that the businessman would be taken to court.
“The complete isolation of Ihor Valeriyovych from being brought to any court hearings has actually been going on for four weeks, but the question is that this is actually the second time about a broken car. I would like to emphasize that this was a completely predictable situation. In fact, we did not expect that he would be taken to court,” said lawyer Oleg Pushkar.
At the same time, Kolomoiskyi’s defender stated that no loud statements from the businessman were planned, it was only about communication opportunities and answers to media questions.
“As a defense attorney, I am against these questions. Because, first of all, you see, he talked to people in court, he doesn’t go anywhere for 4 weeks. The car breaks down, someone gets sick, there is no transport, and so on,” Pushkar added.
On November 14, Kolomoisky commented to journalists about the accusations of law enforcement officers against the businessman and co-owner of the Kvartal 95 studio, Timur Mindich, during a meeting in the Shevchenkiv District Court.
“I believe that Mindich is a “shooter”, he does not pull on the head of the mafia,” said Kolomoiskyi.
Ihor Kolomoisky has been in custody since September 2, 2023. Then he was arrested on suspicion of fraud and money laundering. This episode, according to the investigation, refers to the fact that Kolomoisky embezzled funds during the years 2013-2020 by taking them abroad, “while using the infrastructure of controlled banking institutions.”
Subsequently, the Security Service of Ukraine reported on the exposure of “new facts of criminal activity” of the owner of a large financial and industrial group, Ihory Kolomoiskyi. He was informed of additional suspicion under three articles – it is about illegal actions with documents, possession of other people’s property and legalization of funds obtained through criminal means.
In May 2024, law enforcement officials informed Kolomoisky about the suspicion of organizing the contract killing of the director of a legal company in 2003. Based on new investigative materials, the businessman faces life imprisonment.
According to the investigation, Kolomoiskyi ordered the murder of the director of the legal company for “failing to comply with the requirements for the annulment and invalidation of the decisions of the general meeting of shareholders of the open joint-stock company”, namely the enterprise “Dniprospetsstal”. The businessman denies any involvement in the crime.
