This Ukrainian multi-channel universal anti-aircraft missile system (SPS), capable of destroying ballistic and aerodynamic goals, is developed in the CB “Southern”. The KNRS “King” should be effectively combating the existing and promising means of air attack, including those using low -visibility technologies (Stealth), regardless of the time of year and time of day, in the conditions of intensive radio electronic counteraction of the enemy.
For the first time, the existence of the “King” project was known in April 2021. In the development of the system, all components for its full work were planned, including radar stations of detection and targets, domestic production.
It was assumed that the system would be up to six launchers that can affect the maneuvering aerodynamic targets at a distance of up to 280 km, as well as firing at the same time up to 12 goals, six of which can be ballistic; or fired up to 16 aerodynamic purposes. With two anti -aircraft guided missiles for each aerodynamic target and up to four missiles for each ballistic target.
In this case, the stated TTH of the SPS “King” is quite ambitious:
- Aerodynamic targets are found at a distance of up to 400 km and can be destroyed at a distance of 280 km,
- Suppress fighters – at a range of about 130 kilometers,
- Ballistic goals – up to 44 kilometers (declared parameters correspond to the “maximum” capabilities of the system). And this is the possibilities of the American MIM-104 Patriot or Russian C-400.
One SPS of Kilchin with six starting installations may be sufficient to protect a large city, for example, the Dnieper with suburbs.
The head of the department of development, testing and operation of automation and provision of land and mobile missile systems of KB “Southern” Konstantin Korneev even before a full-scale invasion told the media that the SPS of “King” is a “system-turning system” through the ability to quickly change the configuration of the settings. During combat use, it will not have a permanent structure, and its order will change constantly. “Hearts” – team points – unattainable to the enemy. There are several such “hearts”, and some of them are in virtual structures – in “clouds”. Such an automated control system cannot be destroyed by conventional lethal weapons, Korneev says.
“King” will also provide multi -radar processing of information. After all, it will have radar stations of detection and targeting. All radar-Ukrainian production and cover X-, C- and S-bands. The anti -aircraft missile system “Kilchin” will use the active radar head of the homing of the millimeter range.
Concerning the cost of creating the SPS of “King”, it is about a quarter of the cost of the Patriot complex. 5-6 complexes of our King system can cover from 250 to 500 km of the border of Ukraine.
When this system can be arrived of the Armed Forces, it is not disclosed, but according to the statements of the highest heads of the country, work on the project is actively conducted.

“Coral” is a plane hunter and rockets Another realistic project is the serial production of the coral anti-aircraft missile complexes in KB “Luch”. Although it is unlikely to be compared to American Patriot, it is a medium-range complex “Buk”/ Nasams-2. Coral anti -aircraft missile will be able to fly up to 40 kilometers at a total weight of 300 kg, of which 25 kg – the battle part. The practical “ceiling” of height is indicated in 10 kilometers.
It was planned that Coral would become a universal complex that can be mounted on both land and sea platforms, and even clinging to air-air planes. On the Coral Battle, it should work as a “light” mobile SMRC of a small or medium radius. For example, it can be “attributed” to a specific object that requires enhanced protection against air attacks – aerodrome, seaport, an important industrial facility, etc.
Coral in the Su-27 rocket version can also be used as a hostile aviation hunter-helicopters, aircraft, and UAVs. The goal of missiles on the target will be provided with the active head of the self -introduction and the inertial system.
Interestingly, compared to competitors, the project from KB “Luch” can be equipped with two types of self -introduction heads – active radar and thermal. The latter technically allows the use of SPRs is completely imperceptible to the enemy, because it does not allow the aircraft to fix the radiation and use counter -commodity.
This project is developed in the KB “Luch” against the background of success in the implementation of another project-300 mm of the Alder jet missile, which was even launched into low-range production. Engineers have decided to use the already processed elements: engine, self-introduction head, pulse correction engines, inertial system, non-contact radio or laser detonator. It was planned to obtain a vertical launch anti-aircraft missile for the Navy of Ukraine, and in the future-a universal rocket, which can be used for the weapons of tactical aviation aircraft and for the anti-aircraft missile range of land base.
