Kieran Culkin’s chaotic Oscars speech saw him pay tribute to his parents… and ask his wife to ‘get cracking’ on creating a fourth child.

The actor received his first Oscar nomination for his role as Benji Kaplan in Jesse Eisenberg’s A Real Pain, with him winning the award for best supporting actor.

Culkin, 42, beat Edward Norton, Guy Pearce and his Succession co-star Jeremy Strong in the category as the 97th awards show got underway in Los Angeles.

The actor, who has also won a Bafta and a Golden Globe for the role, gave an iconic and hilarious speech which had the crowd in fits of laughter.

He began by hailing his fellow nominee Strong, saying: ‘I loved your work in The Apprentice.’

Paying tribute to Eisenberg, he said: ‘Thank you for this movie, you are a genius, I will never say this again, so soak it up.’

You’re really good people you gave it your best shot, I love you, mom.’

Culkin also said that his wife, Jazz Charlton, promised him a fourth child if he won an Oscar.

The US actor said that she told him ‘I will give you four (children) when you win an Oscar.’

The camera turned to Charlton, who shares children Kinsey, five, and Wilder, three, with Culkin, laughing along and agreeing with the actor.

‘I held my hand and you shook it … I brought it up now – I owe you, no pressure, I love you, I am sorry I did this again, let’s get cracking on those kids,’ he continued.

The film – written, directed by and co-starring Eisenberg – follows two mismatched cousins as they travel across Poland to honour their late grandmother.

‘I love Kieran so much,’ he continued. ‘In terms of our dynamic – I’ll text him today, “You won, I’m so proud of you, you won the Bafta Award. And then in three weeks’ time, my phone will buzz, and it will say, “Hey, just got this. Thanks.” That’s the closeness with which you imagine we live.’

Of filming A Real Pain, he recalled: ‘So, like halfway through the shoot, we were in a room together, and I was just like, “You’re the most amazing actor. Is there any part you want to play that I could write for you?”

‘And he goes, “Shut the f**k up. Who does things like that?” And I was like, oh yeah, I guess people don’t really do things like that. So anyway, that was my attempt at trying to work together again.’

He added: ‘Kieran and I never worked together, and I’d never seen him in anything – except in 2008, I was doing a movie called Adventureland, and Kieran came in to audition for a character, and he started attacking me in the room.’
