On November 5, Keys was supposed to play against Serena Williams in the third round of the group Yelena Rybakina (Kazakhstan, WTA 6). The American refused the match due to illness. Madison will replace the second substitute Ekaterina Alexandrova (WTA 10). First substitute Mirra Andreeva does not feel comfortable for the game.
Keys no longer had any chance of reaching the semi-finals. In the first round, she lost to Iza Sviontek, and in the second round she lost to Amanda Anisimova.
Rybakina’s meeting with Aleksandrova will also have no tournament significance. Thanks to two victories (matches against Anisimova and Svyontek), Yelena prematurely became the first in the quartet and made it to the WTA Finals playoffs.
Yelena and Ekaterina will start the confrontation at approximately 16:00 Kyiv time. In personal meetings, Aleksandrova’s advantage is 3:2.
