Kazakhstan told the USA and Europe about the urgent need to take effective measures to ensure the safety of oil transportation, in particular by sea.

The country’s Foreign Ministry has expressed serious concern over drone attacks on three tankers headed for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s (CPC) marine terminal in the Black Sea.

“The increase in the frequency of such incidents indicates an increase in risks for the functioning of the international energy infrastructure. Therefore, we call on our partners to work closely together to develop joint measures aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future,” the statement said.

Kazakhstan also emphasized that it is not a party to any armed conflict and makes a significant contribution to global and European energy security.

The day before, at least three oil tankers operated by Greek companies and chartered to load oil from Kazakhstan were attacked by drones in the Black Sea. It happened near the terminal of the Caspian Pipeline Consortium in the Russian port of Novorossiysk.

In November 2025, the Ukrainian military struck the CPC infrastructure in the Novorossiysk region. Through the pipeline, oil from Kazakhstan enters Russia and is then exported through the KTK sea terminal. As a result of the attack, the VPU-2 remote mooring device was seriously damaged and disabled. Kazakhstan protested at the time, while stepping up a plan to divert oil to alternative routes.
