There are currently two positions that could interest Harris.
According to Politico, citing people close to the official, Harris plans to run for president again in 2028 or try to take the position of governor in his home state of California in 2026.
According to the publication, the vice president will study these and other possible ways with family members and closest advisers during the winter holidays. The official and her advisers are currently determining how and when Harris will challenge President-elect Donald Trump and confirm her role in the Democratic Party.
As noted, she will preside over the session of the US Congress on January 6, 2025, where the election results will be approved, and will also appear at Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, are said to be leaving the Naval Observatory, the official residence of the US vice president. They need to decide whether to move into their Los Angeles home or set up a new residence elsewhere.
According to the newspaper, the official’s entourage is concerned about her safety, as her protection from the US Secret Service will expire six months after her resignation.
Associates of Harris are convinced that her defeat in the presidential elections is unlikely to harm the political future.
“If she decides not to run in 2028, the first clues about her political future may come when she succeeds Newsom in California,” the article says.
US election – the latest news about HarrisAllies of Harris believe that incumbent President Joe Biden is to blame for her defeat in the election. They expressed deep disappointment in Biden for taking too long on the campaign trail and not admitting earlier that he was not up to the task.
Newsweek speculates that Harris may become a US Supreme Court justice. A new role after the defeat and at the same time guarantees her a long-term liberal seat.
