The direct speech of the EU High Representative: “If we look at these negotiations (in Abu Dhabi, – ed.), Russia is represented by military personnel who have no mandate to agree on peace as such. So, it is obvious that the Russians are not serious about it.”

“That’s why we’re also discussing the energy support we can give them, because the winter is very hard and Ukrainians are really suffering. A humanitarian disaster is looming,” Kallas said, stressing once again that the Russians are “only pretending to hold” peace talks.

- During the tripartite talks in Abu Dhabi on January 23-24, the USA, Ukraine and Russia discussed the options for ending the war.
- Territorial issues are among the topics of negotiations between the teams in the UAE. Ukraine insists on discussing the territories, moving away from the current confrontation line, while the Russians continue to state the need to withdraw Ukrainian troops from the unoccupied part of Donetsk region.
