Literally: The Ministry of Development held a meeting with the Deputy Head of the Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine Masahiro Takehana, which was joined by First Deputy Minister Alyona Shkrum and Deputy Minister Maryna Denisyuk from the Ministry.

The key news at the meeting was the transfer of previously announced grant funds in the amount of 8.8 billion Japanese yen, which is about 47.7 million euros, as part of Phase 4 of the Emergency Recovery Program.

Details: It is noted that the allocated funds will be directed to humanitarian demining, maintenance of energy infrastructure, restoration of water supply systems, development of public infrastructure of the regions, as well as projects in the field of public health, security and education.

The Ministry of Development noted that the Japanese parliament also approved an additional budget that will allow continuing grant projects within the fifth phase of the Emergency Recovery Program and providing further technical support to Ukraine.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of joint projects, the activities of the JUPITeR platform, and the current status of grant assistance from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Separately, there was talk of preparation for the second JUPITeR mission and the selection of Japanese companies that plan to visit Ukraine next spring.

The ministry added that among the priorities for further cooperation were housing restoration, support for internally displaced people, development of port infrastructure, transport logistics, energy efficiency and protection of critical infrastructure. The parties also discussed possible joint cultural initiatives in the field of memorialization.
