Japan announced the provision of a new aid package to the energy sector of Ukraine

Japan announced the provision of a new package of aid to the energy sector of Ukraine, which includes the supply of equipment for Odesa and Kharkiv, reports UNN.

During the ceremony of handing over equipment for the energy sector, Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said that this is not the first aid from the Japanese government.

Assistance is provided through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Ukraine and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

In particular, Japan will provide:

15 units of frequency-regulated drives for the city of Kharkiv through UNDP.

A 16 MW gas turbine for the city of Kharkiv through UNDP.

32 generators with a total capacity of 28 MW for the city of Kharkiv through JICA.

2 units of gas-piston cogeneration plants of 3.3 MW each for the city of Odesa through UNDP.

“This is all equipment that will help maintain water supply, heat supply and electricity supply of critical infrastructure in the event of a blackout, or a critical situation in the energy system in general,” Galushchenko said.

Ukraine and Japan signed an agreement on strengthening cooperation in the field of security.
